At Henry County Medical Center, we are dedicated to providing quality care to the region, and part of that is ensuring the physical and fiscal health of our businesses and industry. HCMC Community Education provides quality, preventive health screenings right to your workplace. We can work with you to design a health promotion program for your employees with options from our list of health screenings and health education services. These affordable, stand-alone offerings support your corporate wellness events, boost employee morale and lead to a healthier bottom line with health care cost reduction.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services as well as other studies, savings to the employer range from $1.65 to $4.91 for every dollar spent. Numerous studies show that a healthier workforce delivers enhance performance and measurably lower health costs.

With a goal of early risk detection and intervention, the HCMC Industrial Wellness Program helps evaluate employee health and is geared toward encouraging healthy lifestyles. All clinical components are performed by our highly trained health professionals, following stringent protocols that are aligned with state guidelines.

Traditional Industrial Wellness Program

Minimum Participants= 10
Location- Your place of Business
Time- Typically early in the morning, due to required fasting.

Lab work includes:

  • Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP)
  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)
  • Hemoglobin A1C
  • Lipid Profile
  • Liver Panel
  • PSA (Men only)
  • Thyroid Panel
  • Total Iron

Information Gathered at Screenings:

  • Blood Pressure
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Health Questionnaire
  • Height
  • Hip to Waist Ratio
  • Osteoporosis Screening
  • Weight

Overview:
All lab work and health questionnaires are reviewed by a nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant in HCMC’s hospitalist program. Each individual is counseled by a Registered Nurse on lab results and health questionnaire based on NP/PA’s recommendations with risks involved and recommended action. Handout materials are provided to increase knowledge for preventive health.

Paper Trail:
Each participant receives a copy of his or her health questionnaire and lab results along with a health risk assessment, specifically designed for each participant utilizing all information acquired, at scheduled counseling sessions. Lab results can also be faxed to patient’s primary care provider at patient’s request with appropriate HIPPA documentation.

Reports:
All personal reports are confidential and are shared only with the participant. If the participant is unable to attend the counseling session, his or her results will be mailed to his or her home address in accordance with HIPPA. An overall summary report is submitted to the industry that includes a breakdown of total participants and health statistics. A participant list is also provided.

Mini Version of Industrial Wellness
Includes finger stick glucose and lipid panel, health questionnaire and all screenings, counseling sessions and all reports.

Brown Bag Lunch
A Registered Nurse or other healthcare professional will present health information and hand out educational materials quarterly on various health topics; can be customized to the individual company.

Minimum Participants= 20
Location – Your place of Business
Time – During employees lunch hour

Topics – Based on employee needs, determined by RN and Industry. Includes educational materials/ handouts, a registered nurse or other healthcare professional providing health information to your employees/business quarterly, time to ask questions.

We feel that by increasing a person’s awareness and educational level of health problems/disease processes, we can ultimately increase their overall health which will decrease the cost to a business to insure the person as well as the cost of premiums and also decrease the amount of sick time taken due to health issues.

Flu Vaccine
Given during the winter months, a registered nurse will come to your business location with vaccine and provide it to your employees and possibly their family members if you wish. Please, no vaccines for children under 9 years of age.

Minimum Participants= 20
Location- Your place of Business
Time- During regular working hours

Walking Program
A walking program will be available to the industry to encourage the employees to be more active in their daily lives and improve their overall health. The initial program last 12 weeks, with progress noted.
Prizes or Incentives for the participants will be up to the individual companies. Included will be:

  1. A walking trail on site, (mapped out indoors and outdoors, if space available)
  2. Educational materials
  3. Monthly Newsletters
  4. Mini health screenings, before the program beginnings and at the conclusion, to include resting heart rate, blood pressure and BMI.
  5. A pedometer

Minimum Participants= 20
Location- Your place of Business
Time- During employees lunch hour, breaks or other times as allowed/set by the company.

Smoking Cessation Program
This is an eight week class taught by a certified facilitator through the American Lung Association, at your business. The program features a step-by-step plan for quitting smoking and transitioning to a smoke free lifestyle. Educational materials provided for each person from ALA include a workbook, relaxation CD, pamphlets and handout materials for each person.

Minimum Participants= 20
Location- Your place of Business
Time- Typically after noon or after regular working hours

Topics – Learning about triggers, Coping with urges, Stress Management, Weight Control, Recovery process and Support systems, Relapse Prevention and more.
