Henry County Diagnostic Center

The Henry County Diagnostic Center is a 10,000 square foot facility which integrates state-of-the-art technology with convenience, comfort and communication to ensure that you have the best experience possible. This technically advanced Imaging facility is a place where our exceptional Radiologists read images from the most advanced digital imaging equipment available. This means that images are viewed electronically rather than on traditional film.

Digital imaging provides clearer, more detailed images. Patients are now able to have their outpatient exams done in a timely manner with easy access thanks to a patient drop off and close parking. Services offered at the facility include:

The Diagnostic Center is accredited by the American College of Radiology, The Joint Commission, and certified by the FDA. All Radiologists are board certified by the American College of Radiology.

The Diagnostic Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in MRI and CT as the result of a recent review by the ACR. MRI is a noninvasive medical test that utilizes magnetic fields to produce anatomical images of internal body parts to help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. CT scanning — sometimes called CAT scanning — is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and tailor treatments for various medical conditions.

Conducting over 60,000 exams per year, the Diagnostic Center is also home to one of the premier women’s center for digital mammography as well as Bone Densitometry. The Digital Mammography unit is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology and has been chosen as a “pink ribbon facility.” Another feature of the diagnostic center is that the ladies’ visiting the center will be offered individual dressing rooms located within the women’s center for privacy and comfort. Offering this type of advanced technology and service is what made the HCMC Diagnostic Center stand out as one of the best in the nation.

The Henry County Diagnostic Center was also voted by Imaging Economics as one of the best Radiology Facilities for 2013.

CT Scan

Computer Tomography (CT) is an imaging method that uses x-rays to create cross-sectional pictures of the body. The Siemens Sonoma AS20 CT scanner is available at Henry County Diagnostic Center. The CT provides advanced applications, early visualization of disease and faster image gathering capabilities. This allows physicians to obtain incredibly small details in a matter of seconds without compromises in resolution, scan time or image quality, all of which are keys for cardiac, vascular and neurological testing.

MRI

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) does not use radiation to take pictures of the body, but uses powerful magnets and radio waves. The MRI scanner contains a magnet. The magnetic field produced by an MRI is about ten thousand times greater than the earth’s magnetic field. The Optima MR 450w MRI comes with a 70 cm bore and offers a wide array of diagnostic imaging capabilities. This advanced MRI technology allows for even faster exam times that are shorted when compared with older, conventional MRI units. This units is designed to reduce patient claustrophobia and/or anxiety and provide a comfortable experience for all patients, especially large individuals and children. It also provides a reduction in exam time and improved patient comfort in a cooler, quieter environment. The MRI is equipped with a sound system so you may listen to your music of your choosing while having the procedure.

Digital Mammography

Digital Mammography images are so visually superior to x-ray images that we’re able to detect the presence of cancer earlier. We offer private dressing rooms, warm comfortable robes and make the exams comfortable with the use of soft pads. Every staff member, technologist and Radiologist is committed to treating you with kindness and compassion.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a very valuable tool in diagnostic imaging. Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to acquire images. Ultrasound can provide information on organ structure, movement and blood flow, and the exam is typically painless and brief. We offer all ultrasound studies including thyroid, pelvis, breast, abdomen and heart echocardiograms.

Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)

All imaging exams at our diagnostic center are completely digital. Images are available to view seconds after an exam is completed, and physicians have the ability to view images in their offices. We utilize a PACS digital display and archiving system to store images from the Diagnostic Center and Henry County Medical Center. Physicians’ offices now have web access to view your imaging exams. These images become part of a patient’s permanent medical record and can be recalled at any time in the future at the center of hospital locations through a patient’s electronic medical record.

Bone Densitometry

Bone Densitometry , also known as Bone Density, is a safe, low-dose x-ray procedure that assists in diagnosing low bone density. This exam estimates the amount of bone mineral content in specific areas of the body, including the spine, hip and forearm. Physicians use the bone density information to decide if treatment for osteoporosis is necessary. You should have no discomfort or pain from this exam. Our Radiologists will study the images and will send a full report of the findings to your physician who will then discuss the findings with you.

2D, 3D & 4-D Prenatal Ultrasounds

We offer elective 2D, 3D & 4D prenatal ultrasounds to provide a positive bonding experience for the mother, father and family members with the unborn baby. We feel that realistic surface images provide a connection between the parents and baby that can be beneficial to the whole family.We make no claims that 3D as used in this examination is performed to better assess the baby for abnormalities. A routine ultrasound examination must have already been performed to assess the gestational age of the fetus and to evaluate for fetal anomalies as well as the basic components of fetal anatomy recommended for screening.

Pre-Admission Testing

Pre-Admission Testing is a unique process that is dedicated to meeting the concerns of our preoperative patients and their families. A visit to PAT gives each patient having a procedure at Henry County Medical Center or the Surgery Center, the opportunity to incorporate all registration, testing, health history reviews and teaching into one visit. Appointments are scheduled for the patient’s convenience. Your physician will assist in getting this appointment for you.

A physician’s order is required for all services at the Diagnostic Center. Please bring your written physician’s order when visiting or have your physician send the order directly to us. Routine X-rays and laboratory services are offered at the Diagnostic Center and do not require a patient to have an appointment. Routine X-ray services include exams such as chest, abdomen, spine, legs and arms.

Bethel University Paris Campus

The Bethel University Paris Campus gives students the benefits of Bethel coursework minus the hassle of gas and commuting time to other campuses. It provides spillover classroom space for students taking classes toward a bachelor’s degree in business, and also serves as classroom space for high school honors and dual credit courses. The Bethel Paris campus has the unique distinction of being the school’s first satellite campus to be equipped with resources that prepare students for health sciences jobs. Serving primarily as an extension of Bethel University’s College of Health Sciences, the Paris campus provides classroom space for students conducting clinical rotations. A medical sciences skills lab, a physical therapy lab, a nursing and physician assistant practice lab, a biology lab and a gross anatomy cadaver lab will all be a part of the campus.

The new Paris Campus allows for a broader array of health sciences offerings at Bethel. Health sciences offerings being evaluated include physical therapy, diagnostic imaging, advanced practice nursing and advanced laboratory services. Currently, Bethel University offers a bachelor of science in nursing, a master’s of science in physician assistant studies and a number of undergraduate programs that prepare students for placement in advanced health sciences study. Bethel University holds accreditation credentials from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), from the Accreditation Review Commission of Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), and from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
