Dining Out with Senior Stars

Anyone who is in the Senior Stars Club (or who is 55 and older and would like to sign up for the club) is invited to attend Dining Out with Senior Stars.  The event is held quarterly and includes a free meal as well as a free educational session provided on various topics of interest to Seniors.

HCMC Cafeteria

Ivy McDaniel B.S.B.A. , Program Coordinator for SHIP and SMP will be the guest speaker for this quarter’s meal. McDaniel is trained by CMS to help individuals with anything Medicare-related and fight against Medicare fraud and abuse. She has been with this program since 2011 and works with 9 surrounding counties.

The meal items from the grill are not included in the free meal.  You must be prepared to show your Senior Stars card to the cashier.

HCMC Classrooms 2 & 3

This event is for those who are age 55 and over and are members of the Senior Stars Program. Screenings include lipid panel, glucose, blood pressure, osteoporosis screening, foot care, balance screening and hearing screening. Dietitian is on hand to answer questions.

The cost to join Senior Stars is $10 a year and the screenings are offered quarterly to members during the quarter of their birthday month.

You must pre-register to attend because a continental breakfast is served following the screening.  An 8 hour fast (no food or drink) is required to have the screening.

Gerard Monette, MD, Psychiatrist at HCMC Lake Haven Behavioral Center will be the guest speaker for this quarter’s meal. Dr. Monette has been with HCMC for two years. During the program, he will discuss the new Henry County Alzheimer’s Support Group.

Henry County Office on Aging Blood Pressure Checks and Senior Stars Sign Ups

HCMC Community Educator and/or Paris and Henry County Healthcare Foundation Chronic Disease Nurse Case Manager will be available to take your blood pressure and discuss the results with you on the first and third Tuesday mornings of each month (schedule could be modified due to holidays).

Additionally, our Senior Stars Coordinator Hailey Harrison will be on site to sign up those 55 and older for our Senior Stars program.  The cost is $10 and includes an annual screening, quarterly Dining Out with Senior Stars seminars, a discount in the cafeteria, and advanced notice of events and activities.  During this special sign up, the Henry County Office on Aging will pay the annual enrollment fee for those who attend the Office on Aging.
