PARIS, TN – The Paris and Henry County Healthcare Foundation recognized its outgoing board members and welcomed new members and officers at its June meeting. Outgoing members recognized for their years of service. They were Tony Lawrence, Vice President of the Foundation Board, and Bill Neese were both recognized with plaques for their six years of service to the board. Michele Atkins was also recognized as outgoing President.
Additionally, new officers were welcomed. Immediate Past President Michele Atkins recognized James Smith as incoming President, Emily Watkins as Vice President, and Angela Nichols as Secretary/Treasurer. New members Ashli Newcomb, Ellen Adams, and Josh Biggers were introduced at the meeting as well.
“Bill and Tony have been such an asset to our board,” said Tory Daughrity, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at HCMC. “We will miss them, but know they will continue to serve the health of our community through our fundraising efforts.”
The Paris and Henry County Healthcare Foundation was also pleased to recognize Emily Ann Smith as our Harold and Opal Plumley Scholarship winner for the class of 2020 during the meeting. Smith plans to attend Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama majoring in exercise science on a pre-physical therapy track. At Henry County High School she was in the top 5% of her class and an honor graduate, participating in volleyball, student ambassadors, French Club, Science Club, and dance while in school. She is the daughter of James and Tas Smith.
The Harold and Opal Plumley Scholarship is given annually to a student who plans to pursue a healthcare career. The scholarship is a four year, $6,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior from Henry County.
Also, at the June board meeting, the Healthcare Foundation members discussed their upcoming annual Casino Night fundraiser set for Saturday, October 24, 2020 with the theme Maskuerade. Be on the lookout for more details about the event as well as sponsorship opportunities.
