Paris, TN – Henry County Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Sleep Disorder Center Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.
HCMC Sleep Disorders Center underwent a rigorous, onsite review in August. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with Sleep Disorders Center standards spanning several areas.
The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance. The surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
“As a private accreditor, The Joint Commission surveys health care organizations to protect the public by identifying deficiencies in care and working with those organizations to correct them as quickly and sustainably as possible,” says Mark Pelletier, RN, MS, chief operating officer, Accreditation and Certification Operations, and chief nursing executive, The Joint Commission. “We commend Henry County Medical Center for its continuous quality improvement efforts in patient safety and quality of care.”

At the Sleep Disorders Center, our mission is to help you get a good night’s sleep, helping improve your quality of life as well as educating you in sleep disorders related to breathing and the impact the disorders have on your life. The goal of HCMC Sleep Disorders Center is to help our patients understand sleep problems, their impact and what can be done about them in a comfortable testing environment. We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of over 84 classified sleep disorders in adults and adolescents.
Common disorders include:
- Insomnia
- Sleep apnea
- Narcolepsy
- Sleepwalking and sleep terrors
- Restless legs
Our Center utilizes a physician that is board certified in Sleep Medicine. Our specialists, including a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, are available Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with normal testing time from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. We have two beds available with state-of-the-art equipment testing patients for such disorders as Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Central Sleep Apnea, and providing Positive Airway Pressure Tiration studies for treatment of abnormalities detected in the initial Polysomnography test.
The HCMC Sleep Disorders Center opened in July 2006 and is located in the ground level of the hospital. Currently, the Center is training personnel to be open five nights a week for the convenience of our patients.
