Paris, TN-The Paris and Henry County Healthcare Foundation awarded the 2018 Harold and Opal Plumley Scholarship to Morgan Nance, daughter of Gary and Deena Nance of Paris. Nance and her family attended the June board meeting where they enjoyed lunch and Nance received recognition for her accomplishments.
The Harold and Opal Plumley scholarship is given annually to a student who plans to pursue a healthcare career. The scholarship is a four year, $6,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior from Henry County.
Nance hopes to become a Registered Nurse and graduate from Baptist Memorial College of Health Science. She has already begun working in the medical field as a nursing assistant at Paris Healthcare. She has prepared herself for her future career by taking multiple healthcare classes while in high school such as Medical Terminology, Medical Therapeutics, Rehab Therapy, Anatomy and Physiology. Nance is also a member of multiple organizations and is an active member in her church and community.
Nance performed in the 99th percentile in the 2018 Henry County High School graduating class. She participated in HOSA, FCA, NHS, Second Harvest food bank helper, and on the Commercial Bank student advisory board. Nance placed top ten in the state during the HOSA competition making her the first student in the program at HCHS to do so.
“I have a strong desire to help people heal, working as a nurse will allow me to exercise my strengths and have an impact on the lives around me,” said Nance in her application statement. Nance is very passionate about helping others. The Harold and Opal Plumley Scholarship will help Nance follow her dreams of becoming a nurse and helping those in need.
The Paris and Henry County Healthcare Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization founded in 1994. The Foundation was established to enhance and improve the health of all citizens of Henry County through philanthropic support of the programs and services of Henry County Medical Center.
