PARIS, TN – Henry County Medical Center is proud to announce the Partners of the Month for April, May, and June in the Stars of Excellence program are Julie Brewer, Social Services; Pam Hessing, HCHC Nursing; and Rachel Carpenter, 2 South.   Ten others were also nominated for the Stars of Excellence program.

Brewer was recognized by the Cardiac Rehab Department as Partner of the Month for going above and beyond to help a Cardiac Rehab patient who had lost his daughter unexpectedly.  The patient was left with a disabled son-in-law who lived in Kentucky.  Brewer researched the area he lived and found programs available for him so that the burden wasn’t left on the patient’s shoulders.

Hessing was nominated by her director for all her work during this time of COVID at HCHC.  With all the regulatory changes, Hessing exceeded expectations and was praised for the infection control program she had put together by state surveyors.  Hessing had educated staff and has been the organizer of the COVID-19 testing at HCHC with 100% participation by staff and residents.

Carpenter was nominated by her director for being an advocate for a patient’s wife.  The patient’s wife has dementia and was staying in the room with the husband and there was no family living close.  Carpenter took the patient’s wife under her wing and was able to get clothing and a bath for the wife.  The wife was seen in the ER and was admitted for a health issue that the nurse had noticed.  The wife was able to get the care she needed while her caregiver was ill and in the hospital thanks to Carpenter’s help.

These HCMC partners were nominated by patients and coworkers for their hard work and dedication towards this hospital. Their work does not go unnoticed here at HCMC and the hospital is glad to be able to honor them with the Stars of Excellence program. They were nominated for the following:

  • Brittney Green, Home Health and Hospice: Nominated by two patients for her great work helping take care of them.
  • Richard Ferrell, Plant Operations: Nominated by his manager for covering over the weekend of his wife’s birthday and tracking down an issue with the air conditioning, assisting in getting it fixed. He also helped with catching a poisonous snake.
  • Jessica French, Rehab Services: Nominated by her manager for assisting a patient who was dropped off at the wrong location. She walked the patient to the correct place.
