Join HCMC for our Annual Women’s Health Advisory Council Little Black Dress Event Focused on Resiliency and Strength of Women
Paris, TN – Are you living your best life? Americans ranked #18 in the most recent World Happiness Report. Join Henry County Medical Center’s Women’s Health Advisory Council Spirit of Women Little Black Dress event for an evening of food, fun, fashion, and education on how you and your tribe can live your best life!
Our annual event will take place on Tuesday, September 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the Paris Convention Center and will feature a social hour and meal provided by HCMC Food & Nutrition. During the social hour, participants can mingle and enjoy the educational booths available at the event. Each woman will receive a special charm to add to their Spirit of Women membership bracelets and each Spirit of Women member will receive an additional special charm while supplies last. Other goodies will also be available including a resiliency bag of goodies as we dedicate our evening to three fabulous speakers who will touch on strength and tenacity including the importance of taking care of you so that you can take care of your entire family.
Again this year, we will be offering many door prizes and hosting the Sassiest Black Dress contest. Women can take selfies and enjoy our backdrop for fun photos at the event. Women can also pick up a comprehensive guide on recommended screenings and tests for the best health yet.
Our speakers for the evening will feature one of our very own, Brittney Green of Easton’s Angels as she discusses her struggles and how she overcame them to start a non-profit that has helped so many families in our community.
Additionally, Melissa Neal, Vice President of Client Partnerships, Hospitals, of Relevate Health Group will present on Living the Crazy, Grateful Life. Neal has a joy and zest for life that is infectious. She describes herself as Human. Christian. Wife. Mom of 3 boys. Full time executive. Friend. Sister. A few of the roles that Melissa Neal fulfills every day. It can be a struggle to juggle in the crazy, busy, 24/7 access world we all live in. Finding joy and grateful moments are things Melissa finds key to living well. Professionally, Melissa has been in healthcare marketing for 15 years and is passionate about working with hospitals to build trusted relationships with women, the healthcare decision maker in the household. Outside of work, Melissa can be found with her husband, Jake, and their three sons: Max, Charlie and Sam.
Our last speaker, Lisa Piercey, MD, MBA, FAAP, 14th commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Health, will wrap up the evening as our keynote speaker. Preceding her public service, Dr. Piercey spent a decade in health systems operations, most recently as Executive Vice President of West Tennessee Healthcare, a public, not-for-profit health system with over 7,000 employees servicing 22 counties. Dr. Piercey is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in both General Pediatrics and in the specialty field of Child Abuse Pediatrics. She has remained active in evaluating children for suspected abuse and neglect and serves in a volunteer capacity as Medical Director for the Madison County Child Advocacy Center and faculty member at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Professional awards include Senior Healthcare Executive of the Year (2016), Rural Healthcare Executive of the Year (2017), and the WestStar Make-a-Difference Award (2018).
She received her B.S. in Chemistry from Lipscomb University, her M.D. degree and Pediatrics residency training from East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine, and her M.B.A. from Bethel University. Both Dr. Piercey and her husband, David, an industrial safety specialist, are west Tennessee natives and have four children. In her personal time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, drumming, and competing in triathlons.
Those attending must secure a ticket either online, from one of our ticket locations, or from a Women’s Health Advisory Council member. Cost for the tickets is $5 each with all proceeds going to a partnership project to purchase bereavement boxes for our HCMC Women’s Center. Tickets are limited, so be sure to pick yours up as quickly as possible. “This year’s event is going to be one of the best yet because it is local and timely,” said Tory Daughrity, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at HCMC. “I can’t tell you how many women I talk to who go through the same struggles of juggling work, family, and other obligations and don’t take time for themselves. In order for us to stay healthy, we have to not just take care of ourselves physically, but mentally and spiritually. In today’s world we have to be available at the drop of the hat thanks to technology, and taking time to break away and refocus is important more today than it ever has been. I am excited that this event allows us to take that time, and shows the strength and power that women possess and the resiliency we can have in tough times.”
